Instructions for your St. Patrick’s Day art

1. Start by printing out your shamrock template onto white cardstock. You can cut it out before you begin or after the project is finished.
Depending on the age of the child, they might need help to cut out their shamrock shape.

2. Arrange your oil pastels into the colors of the rainbow. I found that it was easiest for my daughter when we took the colors and placed them in order of a rainbow. She could easily tell which color to use next.

3. Have your kids start with red oil pastel and color all the way around their shamrock, leaving the stem white for now. Continue on with the rest of the colors.
If there is space left when they reach purple, they can start again at red. I think it looks pretty cool to have the rainbow colors twice!

4. Once they are done with all the rainbow colors, kids can color in the stem. We chose a darker green for our shamrock stem, but any color would work. This rainbow shamrock craft looks so bright and cheerful hanging up on the wall!
Rainbow art projects are always fun to make and this shamrock craft is the perfect project for St. Patricks Day and a great way to let a little spring color in after a long winter. Kids will love making their shamrock rainbows with oil pastels.
