Instructions for your St. Patrick’s Day art project

Brighten up your day with this easy rainbow shamrock craft using oil pastels. So fun and colorful, kids will love using vibrant oil pastels to create a rainbow in the shape of a shamrock. A great St. Patricks day craft project. Free printable template included!

1. Start by printing out your clover template onto white cardstock. You can cut it out before you begin or after the project is finished.

Depending on the age of the child, they might need help to cut out their shape.

Coloring with green oil pastel on a four leaf clover shape. Craft project for kids for St. Patrick's Day.

2. Arrange your oil pastels into the colors of the rainbow. I found that it was easiest for my daughter when we took the colors and placed them in the order of a rainbow. She could easily tell which color to use next.

3. Have your kids start with red oil pastel and color all the way around their four leaf clover, leaving the stem white for now. Continue on with the rest of the colors.

If there is space left when they reach purple, they can start again at red. I think it looks pretty cool to have the rainbow colors twice!

4. Once they are done with all the rainbow colors, kids can color in the stem. We chose a darker green for our stem, but any color would work. This rainbow four leaf clover craft looks so bright and cheerful hanging up on the wall!
