2. Kids can use crayons, colored pencils, or markers to color in the turkey. Use brown for the turkey’s body, yellow or orange for the beak, and red for the wattle.

3. Assemble the turkey. Glue the beak and wattle onto the turkey body. Use a black crayon, colored pencil, or marker to draw on simple eyes.

Glue the finished turkey body to the bottom center of a piece of white cardstock. This will be the background for your feathers, so make sure there is lots of room all around the turkey.

4. Get your paint ready. Squeeze small amounts of red, yellow, and orange paint onto a paint tray or paper plate. Make sure there is ample room so that the colors don’t mix together, unless kids want to explore the colors mixing and blending as they paint.

Having one fork per color will also help with keeping the colors separate. You could also have paper towels handy to wipe the paint off between colors.

5. Start to paint the feathers with a fork. Dip the back side of a fork into the paint, making sure there is a good amount of paint on your fork. Starting close to the turkey’s body, press the fork down and drag outwards to create feather-like strokes.

Repeat this fork painting process with different colors, working around the turkey’s body to create a fan of painted feathers.
