Supplies
- 9-10 small flat river rocks
- Acrylic paint in red and yellow
- Paintbrush or foam brush
- Permanent black marker or paint pen
- Small burlap or canvas drawstring pouch (opional)
- Paint palette or paper plate
- Mod Podge
Instructions for your tic tac toe craft
1. Make sure your rocks are clean and dry. If you are collecting rocks outside, wash them with soap and water first.
Paint half of your rocks with red acrylic paint and the other half with yellow paint. Depending on the type of paint that you use, you may have to paint on two coats. Let the rocks dry completely.
2. While you are waiting for the rocks to dry, make your tic tac toe board. If you are going to use a drawstring bag for this, draw a tic tac toe board on one side with a black sharpie or paint pen. You can use a ruler to help draw straight lines.
Kids can also draw a tic tac toe board onto paper if they like.
3. To make the ladybug rocks, use a black marker or paint pen to color one end of each rock for the face. You want to only color about 1/3 of the rock for this part.
Draw a straight line down the middle of the rock for the wings like in the picture above. Finish off your ladybugs by adding a few dots on each wing.
4. To finish the bee painted rocks, use a black sharpie or paint pen and fill in about 1/4 of the rock at both ends. Then, depending on the size of the rock, draw in two to three stripes in the middle.
5. To seal and protect your rocks, paint on two thin coats of Mod Podge. Let each coat dry completely in between.
Use your drawstring bag to store your rocks and you have a cute on the go tic tac toe game that you can play anywhere!
