Instructions for your Valentine’s Day painting
1. If you are using the heart templates that I have provided, then print them out onto white cardstock and cut them out. Kids can also make their own hearts if they like.
2. Kids can choose to paint their hearts first or leave them white. I think both ways look great!
If you are painting your heart first, decide on a color. We used watercolors for this step, you want the paint color to be light enough so the acrylic paint shows up nice and bright when painting with q-tips.
3. Once your heart is dry, get your acrylic paint colors ready. Use one q-tip per color. Some kids might only want to use two or three colors, while other kids will want to use five, six, or more.
4. Have kids start to paint dots on their hearts with q-tips. This is always a fun painting technique that kids love!
Take a look at this colorful q-tip Easter egg painting for another creative idea!
Kids can choose to paint a pattern with their q-tips. You can paint the dots on a diagonal, straight across, create a border around the heart, there are so many different ways that kids can get creative painting their hearts!
Kids will love making their q-tip painted heart art for Valentine’s Day!
