Instructions to make your snowman ornament
1. Start by cutting your egg carton. For each snowman, cut a section of three wells out of your egg carton.
2. Paint your egg cartons with white acrylic paint. Depending on the type of paint you use, you may have to paint two coats. Let the paint dry completely before moving on.
3. For the snowman’s scarf, you can use decorative ribbon or a scrap piece of holiday fabric. Cut the ribbon or strip of fabric to your desired size. Put some white glue where the scarf will go and tie the scarf around your snowman.
4. Draw a triangle nose on stiff cardboard and cut it out. Paint the nose with orange acrylic paint and let it dry. Glue the nose onto your snowman using white glue.
5. Glue the googly eyes on above the nose.
6. Glue two buttons onto the second section of your egg carton snowman. Your buttons don’t have to be black, kids can choose any color of buttons they like. Even mismatched buttons would look cute!
7. To complete the snowman’s face you can use a paint pen for the mouth and rosy cheeks or a black sharpie for the mouth and pink crayon for the cheeks.
8. To make the ear muffs (these are so adorable!), cut a piece of pipe cleaner to fit around the snowman’s head. Use white glue on the sides of the egg carton to glue the pipe cleaner down.
Glue pom-poms on either side of the snowman’s head. Kids can choose the color of pipe cleaner and pom-poms to make their snowman unique!
9. Glue a looped ribbon or string to the back, make sure your string is long enough for the ornament to hang on a tree.
This egg carton snowman craft turned out absolutely adorable! I love how kids can customize their snowman using different colors of pipe cleaners, pom-poms and buttons to make each one truly unique.
