Instructions to make your watermelon craft
1. First, print out the watermelon template onto white cardstock and cut it out.
2. If you are using watercolors to paint the watermelon, mix up your 3 colors. You will need pink, bright green, and light green. Remember to test your colors on a scrap piece of paper first to make sure you have the shade that you want.
Kids can also use markers, colored pencils, or even crayons to color their watermelon cards.
3. Using a small brush, paint the outside of the watermelon a bright green. Using a smaller brush for this step will help make it easier for kids to paint.
Next, paint the light green area, again using a small brush.
4. Paint the inside of the watermelon a bright pink color and let the card dry completely. Kids can also paint the hearts on the other part of the card with any color they like.
5. Stick down eye stickers or glue googly eyes down on the watermelon.
Use a fine-point black marker to draw in a mouth.
6. Take your heart paper punch and black cardstock or construction paper and punch out some heart seeds for your watermelon. Use a glue stick to glue the heart seeds down onto the front of the card.
7. Finally, glue on the back of the card with a glue stick or white glue to finish off your Valentine’s Day card.
