Instructions for your bunny art
1. First you want to make sure that your rocks are clean and dry. Paint your rock with acrylic paint. Let the paint dry completely.
Depending on the type of paint and color you use, you may need to paint more than once coat. My pink rock took three coats, while the blue one only needed one coat.
2. Use a pencil to lightly draw in the bunny shape. Remind kids to press lightly with the pencil so they can erase if they need to. Draw in the bunny face with a half circle at the bottom of the rock and then add in the ears.
Use the photo below as an example.
3. Paint the bunny face with white acrylic paint. I did try and color in the bunny with a white paint pen, but found using acrylic paint worked much better.
This will probably need two coats. Let this dry completely.
4. Draw in the bunny face lightly with a pencil. Kids can customize the face however they like to make each bunny rock unique.
5. Use a fine point black and pink paint pen to color in the face details to finish off your Easter bunny rock.
6. For the bunny silhouette rock, again paint the rock with acrylic paint. Depending on the type of paint and color you use, you may need to paint more than one coat.
Let the paint dry completely before moving on.
7. Draw on a bunny silhouette lightly in pencil. Start with a circle for the body, then a smaller circle for the head. Draw in the long pointy ears and two smaller circles for the feet.
Use the photo above as an example. If you press lightly, you can erase your pencil lines if you need to make any adjustments.
8. Paint the bunny shape with white acrylic paint. You may need to paint on two coats. Let this dry completely.
9. Use a dotting tool to paint on some colorful dots around the bunny. If you don’t have a dotting tool, you can use the end of a small paintbrush.
10. Protect your painted rocks by painting on two thin coats to seal everything in. I like to use Mod Podge, it’s easy for kids to paint on themselves and you don’t have to worry about toxic aerosol sprays.
If you are going to be placing your rocks outside, you can use an outdoor Mod Podge.
