BEAUTIFUL WATERCOLOR BUTTERFLY PAINTING FOR KIDS TO MAKE

This beautiful watercolor butterfly painting combines oil pastels and watercolors. Kids will learn easy watercolor techniques to create this wow-worthy art!

MATERIALS – Watercolor paper – Watercolor paint – Black oil pastel – Wooden board and painters tape (optional) – Coarse salt (optional) – Pencil and eraser

TOOLS – Paintbrushes

INSTRUCTIONS 1. Cut your watercolor paper to size and tape it down to a wooden board. Taping it down is an optional step but will help to keep the paper flat as it dries.

2. Have kids look at pictures of butterflies to help them draw out the butterfly wings and also the pattern inside the wings.

3. Use black oil pastel to outline your pencil drawing and fill in the body of the butterfly.

4. Decide on three colors for your butterfly wings. Looking at pictures of real butterflies can help kids choose their own colors.
